BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH FOR JAMES D. SIDMAN, M.D.

Dr. James Sidman is a pediatric otolaryngologist in private
practice in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the director of the Cleft and
Craniofacial Team at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, and is the Chief
of Surgery there. He received his medical degree from Dartmouth, and took
his residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He
served two years in the Peace Corps, and two years in the National Health
Service Corps.
Dr. Sidman's major interest is in pediatric airway reconstruction,
especially in craniofacial patients. He cares for a large number of
children with Pierre Robin sequence and is very involved with clinical
research into early intervention with these patients.
Children referred with velopharyngeal insufficiency make up a large
portion of his practice, and he works quite extensively with speech
pathologists in the evaluation and management of this problem.
