"A product is only as good as its staff," said Clare Brown, office manger at Valley Pediatrics of Greenwich, Connecticut, discussing the practice's recent decision to install PCC EHR in their office this summer. "With PCC EHR, you have both a great product and a staff that is courteous, efficient, and never makes you feel there is a question that is silly or shouldn't be asked."
VPG will be the third practice to go online with PCC EHR, with an online date slated for late June. While the practice has been wanting to implement an EHR for some time, the decision to choose PCC EHR precipitated a "palpable sigh of relief in the office," said Brown. "We know that with PCC, someone will always call you back and walk you through any question or problem."
The practice has been working closely with EHR implementation coordinator Lisa Legge in the creation of visit templates in PCC EHR, conducting a workflow analysis, and evaluating the practice's hardware needs. "So far, it has been an easy, non-invasive process that lets Dr. Juan work on tasks when it's convenient for him," said Brown. "The attention we've received from PCC's staff demonstrates the kind of personal attention that sets PCC apart and is really important to our practice."
Because Valley Pediatrics of Greenwich, Connecticut is a small, one-provider practice, Brown's job as the office manager spans many different areas, including working with some technical aspects of the practice. "I'm not the most computer savvy person," she said, "but with PCC's support, I'm never made to feel I couldn't do something."
Asked about their decision to be an early adopter of PCC EHR, Brown said Dr. Paul Juan is very excited to be a part of the process and seeing the EHR grow and develop. "What's so great about PCC is that the staff is so receptive to using feedback to improve the product. It's not just a one-size-fits-all solution."
With the practice's upcoming "go live" date, Brown said the staff is very excited. "We know there will be a steep learning curve. We are all so used to picking up a chart, there will be adjustments we have to make. Knowing that PCC is on top of the situation makes us feel like we're prepared for the transition."
While Brown said she is not setting expectations for the process quite yet, she added, "I'm anxious, but excitedly anxious. My experience with PCC has been so great, I have the confidence that going paperless will be just as positive because of the quality of the product and knowing the staff will be there to work with me."
